Algerian playmaker Yacine Brahimi insists that Porto will surely win a title this season and added that he has no issue with the club’s supporters.

Brahimi played the full 90 minutes last night as Porto claimed a crucial 1-0 away win over Benfica to reassert control in the Primeira Liga title race.

The result has put them back on top of the log, two points clear of Benfica with four matches left to play.

Should Porto go on to win the Portuguese championship, it would be the first major honour won at the club by Brahimi, who has been with the ‘Dragons’ since 2014.

They are also in the semifinals of the Taca de Portugal, where they will face Sporting Lisbon in the second leg this midweek.

“I arrived here, Porto won everything and had this habit of picking up everything. Me, I played a final, lost. It is inconceivable to tell me that this year, we will not win a title. It's impossible,” Brahimi told Onze-Mondial in an interview.

The 28-year-old also explained that he has never had a problem with the club’s fans: “There are things that have been misinterpreted.

“Me, I'm not the type to deny or say that I did not say that, because from the moment you justify yourself, it's because you have things to reproach you for.

“Today, with the fans, it's going really well. I showed in the field that what was said or written was wrong, that I am a winner and that I love my club.

“Fans expect determination, envy, never to bow their heads and all these things are part of my character.”
