Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola says he does not expect the club to spend big in the European summer.

City have spent £448 million since Guardiola's arrival at the club in 2016, but the Spaniard admitted he is not afraid of spending more, as he lines up a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred.

Guardiola said, "Of course we buy a lot of players and they have helped us a lot and next summer is to buy one or two players more.

“So our market in the summer will be cheaper. If you want to compete at a high level of competitions you need the good players, and the good players make good managers, good clubs."

City have enjoyed a superb season thus far and will look to continue their dominance of the Premier League when they take on Stoke City in their round 30 clash tonight, kick-off at 22h00 CAT.

The Citizens have also won the League Cup this campaign and advanced into the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League.
