International and European club competition

Dimitri Payet has given Olympique Marseille a boost by training with the team ahead of tonight’s UEFA Europa League final against Atletico Madrid, there was no surprise inclusion for Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Sweden’s 2018 World Cup squad, and Joachim Low has extended his contract as the German national team coach to 2022.

English Premier League, EFL Championship & Scottish Premiership

Aston Villa set up a showdown with Fulham in the EFL Championship promotion playoff final after they held Middlesbrough 0-0 in the second leg of their semifinalon Tuesday night. In the Premier League, Chris Hughton has agreed a new three-year contract to remain Brighton & Hove Albion’s manager, and Southampton are in talks to retain Mark Hughes as manager on a permanent basis after he saved the club from relegation.

Ligue 1, Belgian Pro League, Turkish Super Lig, Eredivisie & MLS

Le Havre have moved into the next stage of the Ligue 1 promotion/relegation playoffs after they defeated Brest 2-0, while the Eredivisie Europa League playoff final, first leg match saw Thulani Serero’s Vitesse claim a 3-2 home win over Utrecht.

Transfer rumours & gossip

Arsenal have reportedly held talks with the representatives of Nice’s Ivorian midfielder Jean-Michael Seri, Real Madrid have been put on alert by the uncertainty surrounding goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois’ future at Chelsea, and Sam Allardyce looks set to leave Everton, with the club lining up Marco Silva as a possible replacement.
